As much as we’re all looking forward to summer and can’t wait for some sea, sand, and sun time; we’re all familiar with the darker side of it all -- when it comes to our skin.
No matter your skin type, the summertime skin struggles mostly revolve around skin dehydration and malnutrition. Dry air will always cause your skin to lose elasticity and hydration -- and the hotter the dry air, the worse its effects on your skin. Humid areas won’t save you from skin issues either -- you will sweat a lot and therefore lose lots of fluid along with the salts, vitamins, and minerals that are essential to many of our bodily functions -- keeping your skin healthy being one of them. Besides dryness, other skin issues that can occur due to the summer heat are enlarged pores, oiliness and acne breakouts, as well as a range of heat allergies and rashes.
In order to help you prepare for the summer and stay ahead of all these unfavorable heat consequences, we’ve put together a list of three magic face packs. Use them twice a week in preparation for your vacation, and you’ll be glowing all summer long!
Sandalwood and rosewater
This face pack is the perfect face moisturizer -- if you sweat a lot or don’t drink enough to keep yourself hydrated, this is your match.
Sandalwood will help keep your skin feeling youthful by helping fight acne-causing bacteria, exfoliating the skin, soothing sunburn, and reducing any signs of aging, such as dry skin and wrinkles. Rosewater has anti-inflammatory properties, so it is great for reducing irritation and redness, while it also helps in removing oils and unclogging pores.
Mix sandalwood with a generous amount of rosewater and apply to your face, keeping it on for 15 to 20 minutes. Then rinse the mixture thoroughly with lukewarm water for a fresh and youthful look.
Aloe Vera and honey
When it comes to sun-kissed skin, there’s nothing better for it than some Aloe Vera. Use it when preparing your skin for the summer, or after sunbathing -- it will soothe any sun damage that you skin suffers, and accelerate the healing of any burns or wounds. Aloe will also provide a protective layer that will keep your skin well-hydrated. Along with all of that, this magical plant has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, making it perfect for treating acne and protecting the skin from any irritation and redness.
The best part of Aloe plant to use is the gel, which is found within the plant’s leaves.
Add some honey to the Aloe gel to take advantage of its soothing and anti-inflammatory properties, and you’ve got yourself the perfect summer face pack. This mask you can use to prepare your skin for exposure to the sun, but also as a remedy for any sunburn or irritation that the sun rays cause you.
Papaya, banana, and cucumber
Long exposure to sun rays can cause a range of pigmentation issues, especially when your skin isn’t hydrated enough. This face pack is perfect for fighting both discoloration and hydration issues.
Papaya is known for papain -- an enzyme that helps discoloration as it tends to fade out dark spots, blemishes, and other skin impurities. It’s also a rich source of A and C vitamins. Combine this powerful fruit with banana which is rich in potassium and good for lightening any dark spots, and some cucumber which is excellent for keeping your skin moisturized and reduces swelling and redness. Cut up all the ingredients and blend them together to get a smooth paste -- your skin will be baby soft.
We hope these natural skin masks will help you keep your skin at its healthiest this summer! Remember that having healthy-looking skin is not only about the looks, and proper hydration and nutrition also play a huge role in how your skin looks and feels. This is especially important during the summer, so don’t forget to eat lots of fruits and veggies, as well as drink plenty of water.
If you’re among those who often forget to drink, don’t fret -- we’re here to help! ;)
